All of C.R.'s upholstery has frames made manufactured from sustainably-harvested hardwoods with water-based wood adhesives. The coil springs are made from 50 percent recycled metal. The cushions are made with the new bio-based foams and the back cushions and throw pillows are filled with 100 percent post-consumer regenerated fibers which come from recycled plastic drink bottles. This sofa as shown is covered in a new cotton fabric called Hybrid, which is made from T-shirt scraps that used to be previously discarded in the manufacturing process. According to C.R. Laine’s Marketing Director, Holly Blalock when cotton T-shirts are manufactured, a significant amount of cotton fabric is unused. These remnants used to be incinerated or sent to landfills. Now through a process of collecting, cleaning and separating this pre-consumer scrap cotton fabric into raw fibers, a new cotton fabric is produced. All this is done without the use of additional water, fertilizers, insecticides or farmland, thus conserving resources.
