I am originally from England but my husband and I moved to rural West Wales in order to buy a smallholding where we keep sheep, pigs and poultry. We are also able to grow most of our vegetables organically. I have always loved the tactile nature of textiles and made my first rag rug when I was sixteen. My mother taught me this skill and her mother taught her. I like the fact that this has been passed down through the generations, preserving skills which were almost lost in our 'throw away' society. In the last ten years I have also been making felt. This is made from sheep s fleece and is totally renewable as they are kind enough to donate more fleece every year.I use the dyed fleece to 'paint' with and include other natural fibres to create a rich, textured surface. I have exhibited in Wales and also sell my work through art shops.
