In my works I use earth, sand, natural pigments (indigo, cochineal, saffron, copper powder etc.). I collect sand, earth and natural pigments which I then incorporate into my paintings. My husband's and my hobby is traveling and we have not only seen great beauty but also great destruction during our travels. We stayed for example with a tripe in Ecuador and saw at first hand what the oil industry does to the environment. The image of the head of the tripe is on 4 of my paintings (Between Shell and Coca 1 and 2, Remembering Huami 1 and 2). In order to make the images stronger, I interact with car paint, enamel, newspaper print etc. My brother lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico and I am also influenced by the art of Native American tribes and their beautifully woven rugs. We lived in California and Hongkong and I think all these influences play a part in my work.
