Self-taught and multi-faceted, John, has worked wood in his vocation as a carpenter, and avocation, wood sculptor for 35 years. His love for reclaimed material has led him to create one-of-a-kind sculptural/functional furniture that draws the line between useful artifact and admiring object. Refined design characterizes his work which incorporates the natural imperfections often found in them. Stress cracks, barbed-wire, nails, and holes act as metaphors for the human condition, where natural beauty exists along with the hardships and vagaries of life. He remains dedicated to the inherent mystery of beauty which nature never stops providing.
